About Piotr

Piotr Orzechowski is a Polish immigrant and proud U.S. citizen who came to America at the age of 11 with his family as they sought the American dream. His mother is an Atmospheric Chemist and a Chemistry Professor at College of the Canyons. His father is a Nuclear Chemist.

Growing up in different communities throughout the country, Piotr Orzechowski became a lover of all things water: from his interests in fluid mechanics to his passion for sailing. After settling in California, Piotr obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree with Minors in Biology and Business Administration.

Piotr Orzechowski is an active member of Friends of Castaic Lake and Associate Member of the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers.

It was in 2018, on board a Princess cruise ship, that Piotr proposed
to Chelsea, and only a short eight months later, they were married
right here in Santa Clarita. In July 2021, Piotr and Chelsea gave
birth to their first child, Charlotte Wynn Orzechowski. The couple
loved being parents so much they didn’t wait to have another. They
will welcome their second daughter to the World in November 2022 and
look forward to raising them right here in beautiful Santa Clarita.

Currently, Piotr works for Princess Cruises as an Environmental Water-Programs Manager. He works with EPA, United States Coast Guard, the State of Alaska, and local Port Authorities to make sure treated wastewater is within compliance limits. Piotr is proud to work for a company that opens the majesty of the world to countless passengers while at the same time serves as an environmental steward of our oceans.

As an engineer, Piotr designed, managed, and supervised structural projects for Princess while staying on budget. He also developed and wrote risk mitigation software to assist with ship departures. At a shipyard in Northern California, he assisted with the restoration of a World War II naval vessel that is now on display at the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum.

As an immigrant, Piotr understands the importance of a CLEAN water supply. Before his move to USA, he stood in long lines with his Mom and Grandmother to help fill bottles with safe drinking water from a local well because tap water was undrinkable. That childhood experience, coupled with his education and engineering accomplishments, makes him uniquely qualified to serve as a member of the SCV Water Board, Division 2.

On January 6th, 2021, Piotr was sworn into the SCV Water Agency Board of Directors, representing Division 2, and looks forward to serving the community.
